After yesterdays trip to the more comercial side of E-Music today back to the roots with some of the founders of E-Music. First Clusters Album from 1979 Grosses Wasser (Big Water). It was co-produced with then Ex-TD Man Peter Baumann. Very interesting album. To me it's like a sequel to Trans Harmonic Nights from Baumann (see down) but sure you will here Cluster. Scarce Sounds but interesting sequences and melodies.

Second for today we have another interesting collaboration from Peter Baumann, this time with Conrad Schnitzler who was one of the founding members of KLUSTER and now a solo artist. This Maxi Single was released 1983 and is quite nice. The 3rd track reminds me a little of Kraftwerk.
Unfortunatly Peter Baumann iss not composing any music anymore. He created a spirital guide center for natral enlightening. Google Peter Baumann and the Baumann Institute for more Info.

DRUM and BASE/Breakbeat/Jungle

Today at last I post two of my favourite albums from the 90's. Both accidently released back 1995 (yes my friends already 15 years ago .... argggghh getting older and older ...).
First Leftfield's Leftism. This is refered as British best Electronic Album of all times. Ok this is discussable, but I must admit this album is absolutly mad. Great Beats, Vocals beautifully mixed together. Sometimes you hear a Reggae Rythm then some Drum and Base. This is in no way an "classic" electronic album like Redshift for example, but is even though a classic by itself.

MUST HAVE

The second album is like the first post also an instant classic. Like I said before not in the sense of classic e-music but because of innovation. Goldies - Timeless from 1995 (the 2 CD version) is freaking incredible.
I don't know how the guy did this. The Break Beats and the sudden changes of tempo in the breaks are amazing. It is no getting better than this. Unfortunatly his later albums never could reached the level of this album.

Baffo Banfi - Galaxy my Dear

Great Space Music by Italian Composer Baffo Banfi.
This was his first Solo Album and it is from 1978. I really like this album a lot of. An album to dream and relaxe.

Peter Seiler - Flying Frames

Another year is ending. Hopefully 2010 will be a more positive year for many people than this one.

German Composer Peter Seiler Flying Frames from 1986 is another IC release. To me it is more like a Library Music Album. It has some interesting themes though. No wonder Seiler composed a lot of Jingles and Library Music during the 80s.

Tangerine Dream - Exit

And another album I wanted to post a long time.
TD's Exit from 1981 is another milestone from the great trio Froese, Franke, Schmoelling. In my humble opinion this was the best TD constellation even though Baumann and Haslinger were or are great musicians too :) (Not to mention all the other artist that contributed to this band). Between 1980 and 1985 this Band put out an incredible number of albums and soundtracks.
This is one of their best.

Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express

Here a album that I wanted to post long time ago.
I am a huge Kraftwerk Fan so this is a must. Kraftwerks TEE from 1977 is a masterpiece and pioneers work in electronic music. This is the new remastered Version that just came out in "The Catalogue". It is really worth the 100 USD or so, you will 8 albums + 8 great Booklets for that money. Soundquality is stunning. Enjoy

Today another Robert Schroeder Album. 1987 TimeWaves is another fine example from German Composer Robert Schroeder. I think he is one of the most underrated electronic Composer. Since 1974 he is putting out albums and still is rocking.

Thanks for the recomendation by a follower of my blog and by Bilek who ul this :) This release from 1980 from the australian band Peak is very Progressive and Spacy like. Lot's of Guitar and ambient sounds. It was released on KS IC Label. Interesting.

Mark Isham - Vapor Drawings

After the mistake from last week today a "really" new post :) This was Mark Isham's first solo album. It is from 1983. Mark Isham is an american Trumpeter, synthesist who is now mainly into Soundtrack Music. This early record from him is very ambient and quiet even has some jazz influence.
Different from the european electronic musicians but evenly interesting.

Astral Sounds - Red Kyte

This is a library record released back in 1982 by Rouge Music. Produced by John Hyde. Some nice electronic tunes. Aparently composed for Water and Ambient Scenes. The thing with these Library records is that they dont have much info about the composer if he is not famous in other areas, for example like Mark Shreeve who released also some library records. Electronic Krautrock

As I can see from the dl's you don't like if I blog just 2 tracks from an album but if the album is new I like to protect the musician.
At last a pure Krautrock entry on my blog even though I love the Genre this is my first post of this kind of music nevertheless it is electronic too and today some of these bands a pure electronic. But back to the roots :)

First album is the compilation from Kraftwerk Exceller 8 that was release back in 1980 by Vertigo. It contains tracks from the first 4 albums of Kraftwerk even though Autobahn was heavily cut from 22min to 3 min... it's a nice introduction to their early work.

Here we have the 3rd album from NEU! released back in 1975. The duo Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother both played with Kraftwerk in their early years. Very nice introduction to their work and also their most accesible album apart from their 4 th album that was released 20 years later. Klaus Dinger unfortunatly dies last year. He also created the Krautrock group La Duesseldorf.

And the third one for today. Harmonia is (or was) basically Cluster together wich Michael Rother. Easy melodies with fun texts (Immer wieder rauf und runter, Always going up and down) ect. You will hear similarity to Neu. but that was the time (70s). Deluxe was also released back in 1975.
Since 2007 Harmonia reunited and gave already some concerts.
Hope you liked my little voyage to this genre but if you like electronic music you have to get back where it came from....

Yanni - Live at the Acropolis

This concert album from greek composer Yanni is a nice introduction to his work. Even though that is not your average Electronic music album because he used an Symphonic Orchestra to play with him, I really like Yanni's music. He has some beautiful melodies and optimistic tunes. Originally he started releasing music in the 80's on Peter Baumann's Private Music Label, his first album dates back to 1984 (Optimystique)
The concert is from 1993 and there is a DVD release, if you like the music try to get the video which is nice too, aparently it is deemed to be the second best-selling music video of all time right after Michael Jacksons Thriller.

Rightfully subtitled as music for moonlight drive & swimming pools the Music project from actual Tangerine Dream member Thorsten Quaeschning is a very interesting work. Sometime very close to TD but also with his own influences.

Recorded back in 1974 and released 1975 this is another trance like release from Goettsching. 3 long tracks only played by guitar if you believe or not. Of course with some effect equipment. This sound more like TD or Schulze synthesizer compositions than anything played on a guitar. Enjoy this little masterpiece.

A great promo release from Paul Haslinger (Ex-Tangerine Dream) released back in 95. Several tracks he composed for computershows ect.
Fast paced sequences and melodies. Unfortunatly the bitrate is a little low (128kb) If someone has this with a higher bitrate it would really appreciated :)

The album is from 1986 and it is just great. You can hear that he comes from a Rock Background. But this makes this album so special. I liked it inmedeatly.

This album was just released today. It is from Atom aka (Señor Coconut) aka Uwe Schmidt. And I must say a very interesting but quite experimental experience. Some tracks were co composed with Florian Schneider (who recently left Kraftwerk). And if you listen to the album you can tell why. This one could fit easily between Kraftwerks Kraftwerk 2 and the Ralf & Florian albums.

Propeller Island - Hermeneutic Music

Hermeneutic Music was the first album by Propeller Island( Lars Stroschen), who is a Multimedia Artist from Berlin. It was released in 1988 (man thats already 20 years ago !!) and contains a lot of different sample recordings he made during his travels. This is not your normal electronic sample/sequence album. It is more like a soundtrackscore. I felt directly in love with the album back in 1988. So here another 80s gem that was released on the Erdenklang label.
